A perfect somewhere: Video Marketing Examples #78
Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.
It’s always fun to see a campaign that flips things in a way you don’t expect: and that’s exactly what this new Hotels.com campaign does!
The hotel-booking website recently launched three, 30 second ads. Each of those ads promotes a different ‘type’ of hotel, attractive to a different ‘type’ of traveller.
But…here’s the clever thing.
By pairing footage of each hotel and its features with a voiceover - speaking in the first person - it pulls off a weird, creative and fun vibe: like the hotel is reading out its own profile from a dating website.
Hotel 1: Beachside hotel looking for someone who likes sand and sun.
Hotel 2: Business hotel looking for someone who likes crisp spreadsheets and bedsheets
Hotel 3: Boutique hotel looking for someone who likes intimate conversations and soaking up the city's atmosphere.
"Hotels.com new creative platform was designed to convey the idea that what's perfect for some might not necessarily be what's perfect for you. And we're here to make that perfect match happen.”
Just as every traveller is unique, every property has its own personality, too. Hotels are about both tangibles and intangibles - the details that make a stay perfect for you."
Check out the videos below:
The 3 videos have been viewed over 5m times on YouTube alone, as well as running on TV in the US.
And, in another clever twist, the thing is - even if you’ve already seen one of these ads, the next time you might see a different one. The variety of that messaging keeps viewer engagement high - and reinforces that core message: there are lots of different types of hotel to book at Hotels.com!
Feeling inspired?
Inspiration is all around us, and yet so many brands communicate in the exact same way as their competitors.
Hopefully today’s example inspires you to see that there are different ways to pitch what you do, leaning on social trends and popular culture. Sometimes a small quirk can make a hugely positive campaign!
As always, if you’re looking to communicate in a fun way with animated video - we’re your team, and we’re only a click away. 👇👇👇
