A (Very) Brief History: Video Marketing Examples #52
Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.
This past weekend would have been Professor Stephen Hawking's 80th birthday - he was born on 8th January, 1942.
And, as we’ve come to expect from Google, they were on hand with a Doodle to celebrate the occasion!
Fittingly for a man who famously wrote ‘A Brief History of Time’, the Doodle featured a brief history of its own - a 2-minute animated video walking the viewer through his life and some of his important work.
As well as being a great demonstration of how much detail and feeling can be powerfully communicated in a short animated video, we were interested to note the visual style.
To quote another famous Stephen, the author Stephen King, “Sooner or later, everything old is new again.”
The pixelated, arcade video-game style of the video is a real throwback to the 80s and 90s. Which isn’t perhaps what you’d expect given the subject matter - but doesn’t it just work amazingly?
Feeling inspired?
If you’re racking your brain trying to decide on a style for your next video, perhaps going outside the box with this kind of retro feel might give your story an added sense of cool, nostalgia and fun!
