Animation brings surreal ‘pandemic dreams’ to life - Video Marketing Examples #19

A New Yorker animated documentary attempts to capture some of that weirdness, and the end-product is amazing.

By pairing interview audio featuring real-life people talking about their strange dreams, with surrealist animation, it really captures the essence of the story.

The video features everything from half-human-half-giraffe to invisible monsters and tomato soup - the name of the film

For us, there are two key takeaways from this…

  • It sums up animation’s unique ability to capture the surreal and abstract. Whatever weird and wonderful vision you have, animation is THE tool to bring it to life.

  • It’s a great example of content being repurposed into animation for greater reach. The interview files alone would be interesting, but pairing them with animation makes them infinitely more interesting and enjoyable. We’re increasingly hearing from people and businesses looking to repurpose podcasts, interviews, presentations and pitches with animation, to amplify their reach and impact.
