Better with Books: Video Marketing Examples #146

Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.

We often talk about animation's ability to transcend reality and ignite imaginations. This week, we spotted a beautiful, poignant example.

Emmie’s Books is an amazing organisation, which has donated over 1,000 books to Great Ormond Street Hospital and other hospitals across the UK. The books they donate help provide a precious break from reality for little warriors in the toughest situations.

Their animated video, ‘Better With Books,’ opens with the somber reality faced by children battling illness. We see dark colours and an uneasy, ominous atmosphere, until a flying book emerges - a symbol of hope, and a gateway to a new world.

Upon opening the book, the child enters a fantasy realm of wonder, colour and light. We see oversized objects and mythical creatures, which beautifully capture the essence of childhood imagination.

More importantly, the video demonstrates how the adventures of books can provide a much-needed escape for children in difficult times.

No voiceover, hardly any captions: just a rich, meaningful story that strikes to the heart of the difference this organisation makes in the world.

Feeling inspired?

The power of animation is all about how it can evoke emotion and build empathy. By seamlessly blending reality with fantasy, this campaign invites viewers on a journey of hope and resilience - and, most importantly, it highlights the transformative role books can play in the most challenging circumstances.
