Building Empathy: Video Marketing Examples #77
Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.
Building empathy is important in all forms of marketing, but it’s particularly important for nonprofits and charities.
When seeking to raise funds and donations, the challenge is clear: you have to make your audience a) understand the issue, and b) become emotionally invested.
We were interested to see a new animated campaign created by the Guide Dogs UK Charity For The Blind And Partially Sighted.
It cleverly uses animation not only to help us empathise with characters affected by blindness and partial sightedness, using a person’s real life testimony as the voiceover track.
But it also illustrates what life is like living with these conditions…
"My vision was full of black spots, blurriness, fireworks shooting everywhere”
Terry describes living with the eye condition diabetic retinopathy, from diagnosis to meeting "knight in black shining armour” – guide dog Spencer🐶@GDteamspencer

Animated video is a great technique here - firstly in grabbing and holding viewer attention, and then to powerfully illustrate the situation at hand.
It also delivers a deeply satisfying ending as we meet our hero: Spencer the guide dog.
Feeling inspired?
Animated video is not only a powerful way to hit your audience in the feels - it also lets you illustrate basically everything in a visual manner that they can easily understand.
