Ever feel like your favourite snacks and meals are getting smaller, as the price tags get bigger?

Turns out there’s a word for it - shrinkflation - and, as the cost of living crisis rumbles on all over the world, it’s on consumers’ minds.

To contrast the current trend towards "shrinkflation", Pizza Pizza recently introduced a new "Growflation Pizza" - which is a medium pizza sold for the price of a small, giving customers more value and underscoring their brand message that ‘Everyone Deserves Pizza.’

The brand took a similar stance against inflation last year by introducing their Fixed-Rate Pizza, an XL 4-topping pizza at a guaranteed price of $16.99, a few days after Canada’s biggest interest rate hike in 40 years - and it and was so successful, the offer was extended until the end of 2023.

The video doesn’t use a voiceover, it uses typography and product imagery to really get home the message.

Beyond the simple, slick style, the video works because it addresses a pain point it knows the audience is suffering with - and offers a compelling solution.

It aligns with the fundamental brand vision: “Everyone Deserves Pizza.”

And it clearly shows ‘difference’ - going against the grain. While other brands are out there offering less value, Pizza Pizza are busting a gut to offer you more. And that’s impactful!

From there, is it possible to offer something truly useful or of value that corresponds with that problem?
