Mixing it up: Video Marketing Examples #39

Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.

Which videos are most successful?

Is it animated videos that introduce your product or service?

Customer testimonials and case studies, which build social proof and convince potential buyers?

Product/software tutorials that demonstrate exactly how your ‘thing’ works?

Or, informational videos that help your audience learn?

Frankly, the answer is - yes!

Huh? What? Well, let’s put it more clearly: each of those videos are amazing in their own right. But a mixture of ALL of them? That’s an incredibly powerful recipe for success.

And here’s a great example...

We’ve been seeing a lot of ads for the SEO tool, Semrush over the last couple of months.

Their ads are always really nicely put together, which makes a great first impression.

But what’s most impressive about them is the mixture of messaging. You don’t just see the same ad over and over again.

There are short-form animated ads which introduce the product and link to data-driven case studies on the Semrush website...

There are ‘testimonial’ style videos which feature real-life customers talking about the great results they’ve enjoyed…

And when you dig deeper into their YouTube channel you find informational ‘vlog’ style guides...

Screen-recorded tutorials demonstrating how to do stuff with the software...

And even ‘live’ long-form webinar content…

Video is clearly a key part of Semrush’s overall marketing strategy - and that strategy’s working, with their Q1 results showing a 44% revenue increase and 29% customer increase year over year.

Mixing up video content in this way is incredibly effective.

For organic channel viewers, it ensures you’re offering value in all sorts of different ways.

But it’s particularly beneficial for your ad campaigns.

Why?

Because it means your audience isn’t just repeatedly seeing the same message over and over again - which, let’s be honest, we’ve all encountered.

Ads we’ve already seen become VERY skippable and quickly lose their impact, meaning a huge waste of ad dollars.

But when you’re seeing a different type of content every time...

...constantly keeping a product near the top of your mind...

...slowly chipping away at your objections, reminding you of the problems, and posing the question: Wouldn’t things be better if you just gave us a try? …

You’re left with a potent recipe to get you interested, keep you interested, and move you along the journey towards becoming a customer!

Great work Semrush!
