Real world video? Video Marketing Examples #73

Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.

We wanted to share something a little different this week. A couple of interesting offline campaigns really caught our eye, with ‘motion’ central to both of them.

First, we saw this video about a campaign for Corona which used the movement of the sun - and its shadows - to cleverly and creatively reveal a message on a billboard in Brighton, England.

As well as being a creative and interesting way to display a message, the ad has a broader meaning: it’s designed to hammer home the message that Corona is brewed with 100% natural ingredients. This message is underpinned by the use of nature - and, of course, natural sunlight - in the ad.

It’s fascinating to see motion used in the ‘real world’ to bring a message to life.

Later in the week, with the launch of the fourth season of smash-hit Stranger Things, Netflix absolutely went to TOWN with a series of BIG international, ‘physical’ marketing projects - including projecting video onto the Empire State Building…

Cryptic 80s style poster ads for fictional brands from the series, accompanied by workers in ‘hazmat suits’...

And portals to the ‘Upside Down’ opening in high-profile locations like Bondi Beach…

These creative stunts, performed in high-profile locations - with motion a key point-of-difference - almost invariably generate a host of interesting viral content for social media.

And because of their public nature, they encourage and empower the audience - regular bypassers - to film and share what they see, generating a mountain of viral UGC video and insane reach with minimal expense.
