Strava’s ‘Year in Sport’ shows the power of animated data - Video Marketing Examples #21

Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.

2020 was a year that brought an end to many of the things we once took for granted - take exercise for example.

Almost overnight, athletes saw the cancelation of races and group activities, the closure of gyms, pools and trails, bans on group exercise and team sports, not to mention periods where we weren't even allowed to leave home.

Enter Strava - the online exercise-tracking service - and their Year in Sport experience. They used animated data to reflect on how athletes had overcome all that stuff - and celebrate the things they’d managed to achieve.

Numbers on their own can be dry and uninspiring.

But paired with animation? Numbers can tell incredible, unforgettable stories. This is a perfect example.

So why not think about generating your own data, and pairing it with animation in this way?

The American engineer W. Edwards Deming said: "Without data, you are just another person with an opinion."

And that’s truer today than ever.

Anyone can make bold marketing claims - but they’re far less substantial and credible than actual data.

It’s really easy to set up a free survey in SurveyMonkey. You can share your survey, generate fascinating insights, and use that data to create visualisations and animations like Strava’s to amplify their reach.

Original data can deliver incredible SEO gains for your site, while positioning yourself as a thought leader in your niche. All while creating valuable social proof to help turbocharge your sales process.
