Top dogs: Video Marketing Examples #27
Obligatory disclaimer: This isn't an ad or sponsored content. We simply wanted to share this analysis with you as a great, recent example of video marketing.
What drives us to support nonprofits?
There are dozens of reasons, but, at the heart of it all, is a story.
The narrative, and trust, that your money, or time, is helping instigate positive change in the world.
Taking a situation from state ‘A’ to a much improved state ‘B.’
Perhaps the most effective way to get potential supporters bought into that idea is by showing them that story.
It’s why we see so many television ad appeals, so many billboards, so many fliers and posters advertising charitable organisations.
But, as we keep reminding you, there are very few better ways to tell a story than with animated video.
Take Guide Dogs’ new animated campaign ‘Flash’ for example. Launched only 3 weeks ago, it’s already racked up over 3 million views on YouTube.
It tells the story of a little guide dog pup called Flash, who’s adopted by a Guide Dogs volunteer.
We see the ups and downs of their journey together in a wonderfully human, engaging way, laced with humour and emotion.
AND we get to see the ultimate outcome: the difference guide dogs like Flash make, thanks to the time and money of volunteers and donors, to blind and partially-sighted people.
The impact of the ad can be gauged not just from its view count, but from a scroll of the comments section.
It helped educate people about a process that isn’t often highlighted...
“Absolutely adorable and useful , I learned so much about a process I didn’t even really know about. This is great!”
It encouraged people to consider volunteering...
“This is amazing
It really taught me a lot about Guide dogs and becoming a volunteer can really make a difference. Also adorable.
Thank you for creating this!”
And it made existing volunteers feel special and valued...
“Love this film. Makes us feel special to be part of a puppy’s journey. Thank you Guide Dogs from a puppy raiser xxxx”
When it comes to telling rich, emotive stories - whether it’s for nonprofits or otherwise - animation is such a natural choice.
It’s the same stuff we always talk about: the total control over character design lets you accentuate every emotion and every characteristic.
The control over scenery means you can create the perfect location for your shot.
The ability to manipulate timings and transitions means you can linger on those tear-jerking emotive moments.
And you can really pay off that ultra-happy ending without coming across as cheesy or insincere.
Above all, great stories can be shared on an unprecedented scale through YouTube and other social media channels, amplifying reach and doing amazing things for your overall message.
Feeling inspired?
Whether you’re a nonprofit, B2B or B2C company, we’d love to chat about how to use the storytelling power of animation to capture and engage your audience, too.
