You can’t choose your neighbours, BUT… - Video Marketing Examples #116

SeLoger created this and 2 other humorous videos that highlight the issue of ‘neighbours’, no doubt a bugbear in the real estate industry. According to Fabien Teichner, Founder of Interruption agency (who made the videos):

“We all have an experience with a neighbour. He is not part of our family and is not necessarily a friend, yet he often acts on us like a mirror that reflects our qualities and defects. Each film has been designed so that we can identify with each of the two sides because we are all someone’s neighbour after all.”

The videos are definitely thought-provoking in this way, and they also lean slightly into meme culture by following a storyline that presents uncontrollable but relatable issues and makes people laugh in the process.

The real genius behind these campaigns is in the “but…” SeLoger acknowledges that sometimes you won’t see eye to eye with your neighbours - and they can’t control that - but they can make sure you find your perfect home. Your sanctuary.

So, the lesson here is to find your brand’s “but…”

  • You can’t guarantee she’ll say yes to your proposal, BUT you can blow her away with our beautiful diamond rings.

  • You can’t be sure a baby won’t cry on the plane, BUT you can find peace and quiet with our noise-cancelling headphones.

  • You can’t magically increase your website traffic, BUT you can drive people to your site with a great video!

Basically, you want to hook viewers in with the relatable issue and then pique their interest with your solution to the issue.
